The Garmin GPSmap 540s chartplotter is highly versatile, easily expandable, and a great value.

Buy your Garmin GPS chartplotter here and chart a course for your best fishing season ever.

The 540s is a gps WAAS chartplotter, which allows it to pinpoint your position anywhere in the Northern Hemisphere to within 10 ft. Your position will be displayed on the pre-loaded, satellite enhanced worldwide basemap or the highly detailed BlueChart coastal maps of the United States and the Bahamas. Also, the SD card slot allows you to enhance your gps chartplotter capabilities by loading in high resolution satellite images of local marinas, harbors, or fuel depots.

The Garmin GPSmap 540s chartplotter features a simplified push button menu driven format, allowing you to access the information you want with fewer menu steps to navigate. This intuitive interface allows you to easily plot a course, store waypoints, or simply figure out where you are.

The versatile 540s can be easily flush mounted or more simply installed on its tilt and swivel mount bracket. The full color, 5 inch QVGA display has 640 x 480 pixel resolution. The display ranges from ultra bright, making it easily visible in full daylight, to a new night mode function allowing for superior visibility in low light conditions. The on screen brightness is also fully adjustable to help you distinguish between fish, background structure and bottom details.

The Garmin GPSmap 540s chartplotter is the sounder version so it also comes with a Dual Beam, Dual Frequency transducer (the basic 540 does not have the sounder/transducer option). This versatile transducer allows you to switch between functions in order to get the clearest picture of what’s below you. When in 200kHz, narrow beam mode, you can pierce the depths of the saltwater seas, while the 50kHz wide beam mode is more suitable for searching larger areas of shallow waters.

As is, the 540s is already a fantastic value, but it has been designed to be easily upgradable and expanded. The SD card slot is designed to be compatible with the optional BlueChart g2 Vision card to even further enhance your chartplotting capability. The g2 Vision card can be used for auto guidance, where the 540s searches all available chart features in order to plot the safest route for navigation. The auto guidance feature is your onboard guide to all local hazards and waterways. The 540s also has a built in CANet connectivity that enables your sonar data to be shared with other chartplotter displays on your boat.

So whether your plotting a course from point A to point B, or simply want to head out on the open waters, the Garmin GPSmap 540s chartplotter is a highly versatile, yet extremely affordable option.
